Open Evening 2026
Last week, we were proud to host our annual Open Evening, welcoming over 2,000 visitors to SST. Throughout the evening, visitors had the opportunity to tour our facilities, speak with staff and students, explore our subject areas and experience the unique atmosphere of our school community. Our Headteacher, Mr Royston, delivered talks in the Main Hall, which were opened beautifully by our school choir. He was joined by four of our Year 7 students, Lily in 7T, Mylo in 7V, Liliana in 7H and Benjamin in 7E, who spoke confidently to parents, carers and prospective students about their transition to SST and what they value most about being part of our community. Alongside our Headteacher’s talks, our SEN Department also held presentations throughout the evening, providing families with further guidance about the SEN team at SST and the support available.
This week, we have been delighted to receive some fantastic feedback from prospective families. These messages have been wonderful to read and reflect the pride, maturity and enthusiasm our students consistently show when representing SST. “Our guide, a Year 9 boy, was polite, articulate and engaging. As an employer, I look way beyond educational attainment and instead want to see the interpersonal skills in a potential employee. This young man, along with many other pupils we saw and overheard along the way, had plenty and I'm in no doubt he has a bright future ahead.” “We attended the Open Evening today and our guide Jacob in Year 13, studying Maths, Physics and Engineering, was fantastic. He was a thoroughly polite, knowledgeable and friendly young man who our son chatted to quite happily for the whole tour. A great ambassador for your school and for young people.” “We’d like to make special mention of the enthusiasm, professionalism and authenticity of our tour guide Poppy in Year 10. Her friendly, open and approachable manner put our daughter at ease, while her passion for the school, politeness and warm anecdotes she told made my wife and I feel great about the school and the learning environment.” We would like to say a huge thank you to our students, who represented SST so brilliantly throughout the evening by leading tours, performing in the choir, supporting subject areas and speaking confidently in front of hundreds of visitors. A huge thank you also goes to all of the staff who supported the event, both on the night and in the weeks leading up to it.
