Careers

Welcome to the SST Careers page. Here you will find some in-depth information explaining how we encourage our SST students to become the best people they can be and have success in their future career. At SST, we recognise the structure of the Gatsby Benchmark, and ensure this is integrated with the approach the school takes to careers.

We want to ensure that all students are well prepared for life after school and feel confident in the work place. We know that students will succeed in their chosen careers if they enjoy what they do.  We also know that it is important to find a job that is rewarding personally as well as financially. We pride ourselves on matching the personality and ability of every student with the best careers opportunities and activities to enable them to reflect on their skills and abilities and the possibilities available to them in the world of work.

Of course, many SST students will already have a good idea of what lies ahead of them, whether it is heading off to University, joining the family business, starting their own business or obtaining their dream job and excelling on to further heights. But there will be those that will appreciate our professional and experienced guidance.

As well as making targeted suggestions, our trained teaching staff can endeavour to explore ideas students may not yet have thought of. We achieve this through a planned programme of activities to help students aged between 11 and 19.  We help them manage their career paths, planning for sustained employability throughout their lives.

Every school has a statutory duty to provide careers education in Years 7-13 to ensure students have access to careers information and impartial guidance.  Here at SST, careers education is considered a major priority. We understand there is no point in securing a rewarding education if students are then unable to continue to progress after school either in further education, apprenticeships or employment. Every child is important, no matter what their individual situation, background and ability.
