Safer Internet Day 2026
SST proudly took part in Safer Internet Day 2026, joining schools across the UK and worldwide in promoting the safe and responsible use of technology. This year’s theme, “Smart tech, safe choices - Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI,” gave pupils the opportunity to learn about artificial intelligence and how it is becoming part of everyday life. Throughout the day pupils explored how AI is used in tools such as search engines, chatbots and photo editing apps. They discussed how AI can influence the news and content they see, how it can support learning and the importance of using it responsibly. Older students also learned about potential risks, including scams and the misuse of AI-generated images. Pupils were encouraged to reflect on their own online experiences, recognise AI-generated content and consider how to stay safe online. Discussions focused on the importance of talking to trusted adults if something online makes them feel uncomfortable. Safer Internet Day helped reinforce our school’s ongoing commitment to online safety and encouraged pupils to make smart, safe choices when using technology both in school and at home.
