During half term, Ruben in 7E attended a workshop at the Royal Institution  in the L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre. Students extracted their own DNA which was separated with enzymes and then sealed into a vial for them to take home!

Jake in 10V spent a day at  last Saturday, where he had the amazing opportunity to go out on the track with a race team!🚦🏎 This was only his second time out with them, but nevertheless, Jake made some great progress and received lots of positive feedback!

VIAT Science Fair 2026

Well done to all the students who were selected to take part in the VIAT Science Fair Head-to-Head. It was a fantastic day of showcasing a wide range of projects from Invicta and SST, alongside impressive entries from our primary schools. A huge congratulations to the winners: Best in Trust - Primary: Worms - Leybourne Chase Best in Trust - Secondary: Kayaks - James L (SST) People’s Choice Awards: Best in Primary - Disaster Factory - Aylesford Best in Fair - Wasted Energy - Elliot F-C (SST) Best Presentation: Tensity Vs Earthquakes - Mia and Bella (Invicta) Best Original Idea: Edible Food Packaging - Ella (Invicta).

Following a morning of judging and exploring each other's projects, students participated in a variety of engaging scientific challenges. These included using balloons to compare and record lung volume and extracting DNA from strawberries. The activities provided students with valuable hands-on scientific experiences and opportunities to develop their investigative skills. It was truly a rewarding day, celebrating the enthusiasm, creativity and the achievements of student scientists from across the trust.
