Year 10 Trip to Iceland
Over the Easter holidays, 37 of our Year 10 students took part in an incredible four-day Geography trip to Iceland, exploring some of the world’s most unique and dramatic landscapes. From relaxing in the Blue Lagoon to visiting powerful waterfalls, glaciers and the famous Black Sand Beach, students experienced first-hand the physical processes they study in the classroom. Highlights included a visit to the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant, and the Golden Circle, featuring geysers, volcanic craters and the breathtaking Gullfoss waterfall. Standout moments for many were Thingvellir National Park, where students stood between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, and witnessing the sheer size of the Gullfoss waterfall.
One student said: “My favourite place was Thingvellir national park. Along the way, I learnt about Iceland’s energy supply and how it’s one of the world’s leading countries in geothermal technology. Overall, I had an amazing time and it was definitely a trip to remember!” – Junior N This trip was a fantastic opportunity to bring Geography to life and create lasting memories for all involved.
